FAREWELL TO GOODTIMES

Road Trip

It's been busy, and my blog has suffered the consequences. My last post was five months ago. I have not been taking as many photos as I wanted to. Bummer! I've been so wanting to post my photos from the road trip the family had in June, of all the beautiful scenery and people. Argh, it's not working as planned. So, I'll just do a continuing post of the trip, and see how it goes!

@ Kingsford, Michigan 2012

The five-hour drive from Illinois to Upper Michigan was a stretch, but it was gorgeous. We combed the freeway of Wisconsin to get to Kingsford, to visit with a friend. The kids had a blast. I took tons of photos. Yes, we did make stops just to snap some nice pictures. But my top four, I should say, is not from the scenery nor the landscape. The three photos below come from inside the quaint homes we visited. They caught my attention as soon as I stepped in the living rooms. The fourth photo is from a nearby park, where we stopped for a while and reminisce about good times.

Gigi's cozy home served as natural studio to this piece of art. The lighting was just perfect! The sunlight coming in the window, and the fine curtain diffusing it. I just love this photo. All I did was to position the book, a Roman Loranc no less, and voila! No editing needed!

The baskets above were handcrafted in another quaint house across the street from Gigi. Jim, an artist, displays his craft, which I just couldn't get enough of. Amazing talents in Kingsford!

I haven't seen something like these in ages! I thought they have become extinct just like the merry-go-round. But lo and behold, at the center of Kingsford, right where the roads meet is this serene park with century old trees and the songs of the birds. I'm glad my kids got a chance to enjoy this ride before it disappears.
